Romania

The Romanian landscape is approximately one-third mountainous and one-third forested, with the remainder made up of hills and plains. The climate is temperate and marked by four distinct seasons.

About nine-tenths of the country’s people are ethnically Romanian. There are also many ethnic Hungarians, who reside largely in Transylvania, in the northwestern area of the country.

The Roma have traditionally blended Romanian Orthodoxy Romania2with their own spiritual traditions. Roman Catholicism is the primary religion of ethnic Hungarians and Swabian Germans.
