Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH)
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health was established in 2009 by four independent Community Controlled Health Services to provide for the needs of Australia’s second largest Indigenous population. Since then, our regional network has expanded to 16 multidisciplinary primary health clinics. With more clinics planned for 2015.
Using the IUIH Model of Care, the Institute is empowering communities in South East Queensland to take responsibility for the delivery of health services to Indigenous Australians, by Indigenous Australians.
In this way, IUIH is not only helping to Close the Gap in life expectancy but is laying the foundations for better education, real jobs in the real economy and safer communities.
