Greek Film Festival – Australia

Greek Film Festival - Australia2The Greek Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals in Australia. The festival offers a stellar programme of Greek films from young independent filmmakers to big names.

History has shown that Greeks have used film to portray political statements, ideologies and unrest, at times with a tongue firmly planted in cheek. And with what Greece has gone through the past five or more years, film coming from the Hellenic Republic debunks the myth that this is a country on its knees; it has shown this to be a resilient country looking for new and creative ways to get their films seen.

Greek Film Festival - Australia3There is a Best of Program featuring some of the most iconic dramas, thrillers and comedies that have graced Australian cinemas as part of this festival in its 20-year history. If eyes are the window to the soul; than foreign films are the windows to a nation’s heartbeat – nothing can be more true to this than Greek film.
