Consulate-General of Japan in Perth

Perth Kimono Club at the Japan Festival Perth 2015

Japan and Western Australia are connected by a bond of friendship spanning a rich cultural history of more than 100 years. For Japan, Western Australia is a major, reliable source of important minerals, energy and agricultural products. For Western Australia this also provides great benefit to the economic development of the state. In this context, the mutual importance of this economic partnership to both Japan and Western Australia is easy for all to see.

Additionally, Western Australia plays an active role in the area of Japanese language education; there is a great deal of Consulate-General of Japan in Perth3interest in Japan and Japanese culture; and Japan and WA enjoy a long history of cultural exchange on many levels, such as in the various sister city relationships between Western Australian and Japanese cities. All these things contribute greatly to an ever-deepening understanding of Japan amongst Western Australians.
