Budburra Books2Budburra Books (not-for-profit) celebrates the strengths and creativity of a ‘deadly’ Indigenous school and community.

The children and residents of Cherbourg, an Indigenous community in South East Queensland, have proven that they are talented authors, artists and filmmakers. They have produced 12 beautifully illustrated books and five films.

The Budburra Books Project is raising funds for future community literacy projects from the sales of these books and films.

The project engages students and community members in
production of books, art and films, drawing on the cultural strengths,Budburra Books3 historical ties and artistic skills in the community.

The project aspires to encourage a love of learning and literacy and continue cultivating pride in local Indigenous culture.
