Rachel is a travel, culture and arts writer originally from Brisbane, Australia, but currently based in Toronto, Canada.
She originally studied Business Management and Economics at the University of Queensland but soon after realised the corporate world was not for her and became an English teacher in order to follow her passion of travel.
She has travelled and lived around the world, from working on organic farms in Spain to living and working with children in Northern Thailand. Rachel realized that learning about different cultures was a passion of hers and now dedicates much of her time, energy and savings to discovering the incredible diversity of our world. She has a keen interest in learning languages and has most recently improved her Spanish skills in Barcelona where she spent some time studying after walking the Camino de Santiago.
Rachel started her own blog two years ago to document her travel stories and has since expanded her writing career by working for various online platforms including Moustache Magazine, Lola Who and now SIBW. She has a Graduate Certificate in Creative Industries (Writing) from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Education (Social Ecology) from the University of Western Sydney. She has been a radio announcer for 4ZZZ FM community broadcaster in Brisbane, while in her spare time has spent many years studying yoga.
Rachel has a keen interest in wellbeing, but not in fads, and loves writing, reading and sharing stories that inspire and inform. She loves the positive side of multiculturalism shared through SIBW and enjoys writing articles about people and cultures from around the world.
